At Opti-Care, we offer a wide selection of high-quality eyeglasses in different colors and designs. With proper care and maintenance, you can expect your glasses to last for many years. In today’s post, your dependable optometrist shares four steps to follow when cleaning your specs:
Step 1: Wash Your Hands Thoroughly
Your hands contain dirt and microorganisms that may be transferred to your lenses, causing lens damage and eye infections. Make sure to use antimicrobial soap when washing your hands, and dry your hands afterward with a lint-free towel.
Step 2: Rinse Your Eyeglasses
Hold your eyeglasses under a gentle stream of lukewarm tap water. The continuous flow of water helps remove superficial dirt and surface debris.
Step 3: Use a Small Amount of Dishwashing Detergent
Apply a few drops of dishwashing liquid on your fingers and gently lather your lenses. Carefully clean your eyeglasses using a brisk rubbing motion. Avoid applying too much pressure to prevent breaking your glasses. Refrain from using other cleaning detergents because they may contain substances that are incompatible with your lens coating or frame material.
Step 4: Rinse and Dry Completely
Rinse the soap off your glasses with lukewarm tap water. Shake your specs gently to remove excess water and dry them with a microfiber or lint-free towel.
Your expert eye doctor suggests storing your glasses in their case whenever you’re not wearing them. It’s also a good idea to clean the eyeglass case itself regularly. Be sure to let it air dry to prevent mold growth or microorganism buildup. At Opti-Care, our premier eyeglasses also come standard with a handy microfiber cloth. You can use this to wipe your eyeglasses as you go about your day.
