LASIK procedures are personalized based on a patient’s current condition, so the recovery and aftercare plan can vary from one person to another. Make sure to follow the plan outlined by your doctor. But to give you a general idea of the things you need to do and avoid while your eyes are healing, here are some tips from your trusted optometrist at Opti-Care.
Take It Easy
Take a few days off work or school after your surgery. Even though you feel okay in general, it’s best to slowly ease your way back into your normal routine. Let your whole body rest for at least two days. Avoid reading and using computers or electronic devices. Driving is not allowed right after LASIK surgery, so make sure to have a companion.
Avoid Touching or Rubbing Your Eyes
Your eyes may feel uncomfortable after the procedure, but make sure not to touch or rub your eyes. It might be best to consider wearing goggles so that you can avoid touching your eyes unconsciously. Additionally, stop wearing your contact lenses for the meantime.
Prepare Your Post-Op Meals in Advance
Food prep can be challenging after the procedure because your vision would be blurry. So if you live alone, you should prepare your post-op meals before your scheduled surgery. Cook your meals ahead, stock up on microwavable food, or pre-order delivery meals. You might also want to consider using disposable plates and cups for the first few days so that you won’t have to wash dishes.
